Nomi Nori Handroll and Sake Bar is now open in the EDGE District and it is the first of its kind in St. Pete. Nomi Nori Handroll and Sake Bar is a high-end, hand roll temaki sushi and poke restaurant located at 1572 Central Avenue.

Nomi Nori Handroll and Sake Bar

Last week a new restaurant concept in the Edge District of St. Pete called Nomi Nori opened. Nomi Nori is brought to us by The EDGE Eatery and they offer two dining options: A formal lounge dinner area on the left and on the right side of the restaurant there is a more casual eatery.

The more casual side takes walk ins and they have mostly the same menu. I have not eaten on that side so I can not provide an experience or review for it, but I do plan to return.

The formal side is by reservation only and it books up quickly because it as intimate, meaning, about 10 seats in total (5 small tables) not counting a small bar area where you also can order food. The full-service dinner experience on the formal side showcases high-end ingredients as well as a cocktail bar with sake and soju. They also will be featuring regular live performances and music plus a live DJ and there are nice black out curtains to create a vibe.

So, on to the food...this place is supposed to specialize in hand rolls. I have w photos below of the menu because their website isn't up yet. We ordered this option below for both of us, but mine was to be made gluten free so it had some changes:

NOMI NORI DELUXE $45
Side salad/miso soup
Escolar Nigiri (2)
Salmon Nigiri (2)
Hamachi Nigiri (1)
Bluefin Tuna Nigiri (1)
Blue Crab Handroll (1)
Salmon Ponzu Handroll (1)

Now, because I am gluten-free I couldn't have the miso soup or side salad and the two handrolls were not the same as shown below, but I have photos of (hubs) non-gluten-free handrolls.

Overall, it was all very delicious and fresh. Hubs thought the was actually the best ginger salad he had had at a restaurant. The rolls and nigiri were tasty. So, I eat a lot of nigiri right? I even started this food tour with a trip to Zukku-San which I felt was underwhelming (fish wise and GF option wise). I really enjoyed this stop, the nigiri which was what I mainly had was definitely a higher quality. I also liked that they had a whole row of more delectable nigiri and roll options outside of the main menu.

The nigiri portion (mine looked basically the same as hubs, but the Chef did come out and specifically tell our waitress this one is the gluten free one which was much appreciated.

I am hardcore missing Sriracha so just to let you know that is what that is on the plate, it doesn't quite taste like the brand, but I had just that little bit so I couldn't tell, but it was delicious!

For me, this is a lot of food to have, we did not have any leftovers, my husband ate the soup I couldn't have also because there was no substitute since both the soup and salad contained gluten.

The gluten free handroll option that I received. It is plain, but I was happy with it and happy to have gluten free soy sauce so no complaints from me! It was delicious!

Gluten Free version

My finisher roll!
This is gluten free

I did have one great finisher, you know because I missed out on the handrolls and soup/salad options. My finisher was the  Golden Tuna, Uni & Caviar Nigiri for $24.

This one is really similar to my favorite "Crazy Rich Asian" at Seito. It waa however tasty,  but not as good as the one at Seito. I am not sure why other than that it was a bit smaller.

So, some things to make note of:

-Parking is free.

-You can order take out on the casual side

- I did see on our receipt they charge 3$ for soda and refills are not free.

-4% credit card fee

- As for the gluten options they worked with me with options and they had gluten-free soy sauce. You have to be very clear if you need your food prepared separately from the other orders and let them know its Celiacs or a gluten allergy; I was really worried about this, but I did not get sick!!!

Overall, I really liked Nomi Nori. (Yay!)
