2023 Food Tour: YOUNG, HUNGRY, & CURIOUS | A Visit to Bayou Bodega + Vintage Winter Style

Hi loves! This is the first post in my 2023 Spring Food Tour: YOUNG, HUNGRY, & CURIOUS, a tittle I took from one of my blog posts while on vacation in Orlando last year. Our curiosity for new and interesting food has been taking us all over Florida and taking our cash as we indulge in what would be considered the "best of the best".

My goal this Spring is to bring you all some independent restaurants that you may have not heard of before. Different things draw me to these places, but mostly it is just hunger  and curiosity. I had to start my tour earlier than expected as I was planning to start my tour at the end of March when it was officially Spring, but I had to move this post ahead once I found out that this restaurant was closing.

Today, I am sharing a vintage look from my vintage closet. They do not make dresses like this anymore! This is a cashmere dress that I originally purchased over a decade ago to wear to a dinner while in the Bahamas. I am so glad after all these years I still have it and it is still in great condition.

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time before we actually had a chance to. I must say this was one of my positive dining experiences as a Celiac. There were no issues accommodating my being a Celiac. I was told right away which menu items were gluten-free. The menu isn't huge, but what is on it is really, really great. Everything we had all the time we came in was spectacular. I eat rice and beans all the time, and I was moved at how delicious the Puerto Rican rice and beans were. The pork was also perfection. It was cooked perfectly, it had a great crusty garlic sear on it, and the dish was finished off with a fine olive oil. The sautéed shrimp was the same.

The shrimp were also perfectly cooked. The Escargot hands down is the best I have EVER had. I have been recommend this restaurant to everyone who would listen. Unfortunately, a lot of them didn't want to venture out to Davis Islands. This place was truly a gem. I don't even drink wine because it causes reactions, but the natural wine was ok for me to have.

The staff here is super friendly and hospitable. I really hope you all find a new location in the future! Every dining experience was very consistent and great. Parking is free and available right on the street. The restaurant has a great vibe and decor
