La Sétima Club
Historic Ybor City
Stop #11 is La Sétima Club in Ybor City. This is my 2nd visit to a place that is Vegan, but unlike my last stop, not completely gluten-free. I actually came across this place because of Instagram, it popped up in my feed and they had these delicious looking caviar wedge fries as a special, but they were Vegan. It was like, Vegan caviar. So, I looked into this place and you know immediately I see it isn't very gluten friendly, but I was still interested.
A lot of people assume because things are Vegan it is gluten-free, but that isn't the case when dealing with processed foods (like meat substitutes that can contain wheat fillers or even seitan). You also have to think about the frier that is used to cook that food and other elements of cross contamination. Regardless, I was still interested even if I just found 1 item on the menu to try, and I did.
Natural Wine
So, what won me over was the Black eyed pea hummus. I can work with this because I love hummus and I love Black eyed peas. it has very minimal processing and I asked for it to be served with vegetables instead of pita bread or chips. I loved this.
Next, La Sétima serves natural wine. I have given up wine. It's been years since I drank wine and in April I stopped drinking champagne because both cause bloating, swelling, joint pain and auto immune reactions for me. I have known that natural wines are considered to be a safe option for people like me, so I wanted to come there and try some as well.
I found the natural wine to be light, refreshing, and enjoyable and I didn't have any autoimmune reactions.
La Sétima is located in historic Ybor City in my favorite area. The inside is decorated very chic and the vibe is really laid back. From the outside, it looks very nondescript; It isn't your typical place. The food options are good, even though I couldn't have a lot, what is there looks great. My husband had the "chorizo" egg rolls and they looked pretty impressive.
