Hi loves! This is the vacation recap and canera roll for this trip.
In the Summer of 2023 my husband and I had a pretty amazing anniversary vacation wwhich tarted in Ocala and ended with us in Bermuda 🇧🇲🇧🇲🇧🇲.
I have always Wanted to visit the Caribbean island of Bermuda which is located out on it's lonesome in the Atlantic Ocean. You know, making that famous triangle from Bermuda to Miami to the Bahamas.
I must tell you, it is absolutely beautiful there! It looks exactly like the photos that I have seen. We were only there for two days, but honestly, I could have spent four or five days there. For the Summer it was very hot, I had been told that Bermuda actually gets cooler after May and itisn't as hot.
Well, I can tell you that was a lie. It wasn't humid though, it was like just burning hot, like I could feel my skin frying when I was in the sun (thank God I always have and wear sunscreen).
I think that I had the most fun planning out my looks for Bermuda. Bermuda is so colorful and they pretty much allow people to paint their homes whatever color they want as long as it is a natural color that occurs in their landscape so you have a lot of Aqua blue houses, sea green, and Corals. The beaches are to die for. So, I have photos all over the place in this post.
Here at the start of my blog post I always lead with outfit photos that did not make it to the original blog post, so these are unseen extras.
One thing that did suck was I didn't get to eat any Bermudian food. Although I did a lot of research prior, I couldn't find any restaurants that could guarantee gluten-free food except at the Hamilton Bermuda Hotel and we didn't have time to go there because we had other things planned. They had one restaurant I wanted to visit which was owned and run by a celebrity chef and I found out he no longer had that restaurant open as of 2022.
Anyway, there are naturally a ton of restaurants, but to my chagrin a lot of them sold burgers, fries, pizzas, fried seafood platters etc. I can eat that stuff back home so it just wasn't worth the Hassel or risk of getting glutened. If you are wondering what I wanted, I make life easy and I just want a grilled or baked fish or shrimp option, vegetables and some rice. I have been gluten free for 13 years and that's how I roll.
Our other stop was the Bahamas. Honestly, I wish these cruise ships would stop with the multiple stops in the Bahamas (we had three, Bimini, Nassau, and Coco Cay) and just give us more days in Bermuda. That was the whole reason for going!
I always like to rank my beaches and try to find the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beaches we went to on this trip were so beautiful and off the beaten path. I am not even giving the names of them because they will be loaded up with tourists if people know about them.
These beaches were peivate and secluded and just breathtaking. One of them even had natural sea glass. I found out Bermuda has a lot of sea glass, like a LOT, but it is illegal to take it. I did take 1 piece, but to be honest when I saw all the glass I didnt even think, "Oh my God its real sea glass!" I was like " ew, there is broken glass everywhere and I dont want to cut my feet" and I picked up a piece and I looked at it and just threw it in my bag for some odd reason.
So, on this cruise we did the formal dining as we always do. This time it was pretty fun because Royal Caribbean has started serving Indian cuisine every night as an option.
We LOVE Indian food so every night we ordered something different for 9 days. We had a really great time and experience because of that and I would say this was the best food experience I have had with the formal dining on any cruise ship. Indian food is unmatched to the other food they serve which often tastes like it may have been previously frozen (even though it was not). They do a great job of sticking to the traditional recipes and the food and apices was not lacking at all.
Everday we had fresh Naan and Pappadum. Everynight they gave me a huge plate of Pappadumto take back to my room to eat incase I got hungry and couldnt get anythig that was gluten-freeafter hours.
Formal night
This was my first time going to this Johnny Rockets on the Royal Caribbean and man, this was such a wack lunch. It was so bad I just didn't even have words. I ordered a tuna melt and I had to send it back. It had so much mustard and vinegar in it that was all you could taste, it was like whoever made it was allergic to mayo.
So, I asked for a bunless burger and this burger patty was prefrozen and hatd as a rock. I ended up giving it to my husband who didn't order anything. I ate some of the fries, but they too had a frozen taste. Lunch was 13.00$ and it was supposed to come with a milkshake, but I hate milkshakes so I didn't want that either. I will never venture into this side of the ship again lol.
Overall, this trip was bomb. I was so happy to finally see Bermuda 🇧🇲 and check off country #24. I had so much fun, I just needed time to keep this one right there in my heart for just my husband and I before I shared it. That is why it's now almost a year later and my recap is just now going up because I didn't even start posting about it until a week before New Years.

So, the gluten-free pizzas are our jam on Royal Caribbean. I will eat a whole ten inch pizza every night at 230am every night! This cruise was 9 days and dammit I never gain weight. I love these pizzas and they are synonymous with the epitome of letting go and being unfettered basking in vacation "Black girl joy". And my husband, sweetest husband in the world, if I tell him at 1:30am I want pizza and they close at 2am I think or 2:30am he goes downstairs to the pizza place everytime and comes back with 2 pies.
I do choose our room to be strategically near or above the pizza shop for this reason lol. And I just want to say, RC is the only ship that I have been able to get a gluten-free pizza that is guaranteed free of cross contamination (they are cooked on their own tray) as of 2023. This statement is now different as of this year, but I will clarify that later.
They do not even place them with the other pizzas, you have to go order it and wait and they hand it directly ro you. All the other pizzas they just make and put them out and you just walk up and tell them which slices you want.
