VLOG July City Life 2020: After The Rain: Gluten Free Home Cooked Meals + Hauls & Fitness

I myself can't believe it is already August! Well, you all, happy August, let's hope its better for us all. I recently had posted that it has been over 100 days since I left my house. Its very strange for me because I feel safe, like infinitely more safe than when I was in the condo, but you know sometimes I do want to go out for a drive. I have had insomnia since June; so I am hoping when it finally lets up I can actually drive down the street to see the neighborhood I moved into. So, I have been doing a little shopping because I am bored sometimes and I still have some photos to upload. I guess I feel un-motivated right now, but at the same time super motivated.

I was pretty sure I let you all know for the duration of the Summer I am a Tiktok partner and I have been working for them a lot. Its been a great and fun experience and if you guys are interested my user name is Fashiontolive. I post all kinds of stuff (no dance videos). Mainly, I post cooking videos or things about plants and fitness.  So, sometimes I guess my lack of motivation is misguided because most of my energy has gone into that Summer job as well as my usual work. As for the home, I am just going to post the house post next week. I can't really put it off due to Covid 19. My house is pretty much not furnished with the few items I wanted to buy (a couch and a table) because of Covid. No one will install blinds right now or do a lot of the things I need done so all I can do is wait. This is why I was waiting to post it in the first place.

This is a really great company I came across- also in an Instagram add.

This is a really great company I came across- also in an Instagram ad that I ran into. Muaves makes satin head wraps that have microfiber on the inside. I am guessing they would be ideal for certain women to wrap their hair while at the beach or pool. Great for women who wash their hair and let it dry in a bun....and great for us naturals that wear bonnets anyway to sleep. You can just turn it inside out so the towel part is on the outside. They are pretty quick with shipping and the quality is really great. They are Mod and chic and classy in my opinion. They are on the expensive side at over $50 for one. I ordered three to maximize the 10% first time coupon and utilize the free shipping after $100. Lastly, I believe this company is owned and run by women. This isn't sponsored by the way, when I find a great company I always share it with you guys.

FITNESS: Fitness ain't fun lol. I still work out, but with the addition of stairs in my house I get an amount of cardio that I wasn't getting before AT ALL. I am worried I will lose my gains and some days I am worried I just will get out of shape. YOUR MIND is so important when it comes to fitness. Practicing yoga teaches you to be mindful and meditate and to be at one with your emotions. I personally hate Summer, I always have and I think that I have gone through a great deal of fighting myself and convincing myself to sit on the couch instead of work out when I can.

Accountability:
So, this post I just want to make some of my friends and subscribers aware of companies that are scamming people, restaurants that are not providing good service or food during this pandemic.

Since this pandemic started the onus has been put on the consumer to keep the economy going despite the fact that double digits of millions of people are unemployed and needing to get food from food banks. I can tell you as a blogger, a content creator, and an influencer pressure has been put on me by restaurants to come in (for free) and post my experience. When I politely declined I got attitude despite the fact that I offered to come I and do curbside. I have done a lot of great curbside posts, but literally some places want Instagramers and bloggers to "risk it for the biscuit" not caring at all about Covid 19 or anything else. They are just using people because they know if I or you won't do it, someone else will be desperate enough to. I am not mincing words.

Restaurants ... I have been doing curbside because it is relatively safe. No I have done NO SPONSORED POSTS since the pandemic and have turned down a lot. I also have done only 1 hosted event which I wrote about ad-nauseum and you guys know how that turned out. Anyway, most of the time I am a local customer, a consumer like everyone else. What I have noticed since May a lot of restaurants offer takeout and curbside at a limited menu, but the food isn't fresh, its not seasoned, its really not even that great. And as the consumer you (including myself) have wasted time and money on a lackluster experience while restauranteurs  put the onus on us to still patron them despite many people not having the disposable income.

The mail is messed up. Online retail stores are taking advantage of this and making it so that orders gent lost, never arrive, and in my case I was completely shorted a dress from a $140 order and now the company is using bots to respond to me in emails and DM's, they are giving me the run around on what was really in the order and its my word against theirs. What I don't want to happen is for anyone to deal with some of the issues I have. So here it is...

Takeout: Green Lemon, Ocean Prime, Poke Works, 4 Rivers smokehouse, Yah Mon, have been top notch in my opinion. I got great customer service, what I paid for, what I asked for, the food was the same as before. Fresh Kitchen is an honorable mention: they don't make anyone wear masks (customers- employees do) and the restaurant probably had more than 30 to 40 un-masked people in it the night we went for takeout.

I had a very bad experience at Outback Steakhouse- my steak was completely rare and inedible. I was going hard for Boat Run Oyster Co, but last week I placed my order for 26 oysters and their website had left cookies on my computer from a previous order so it doubled the order to 52. No one answered the phone when I called, social media was contacted and she got someone to email me back, but it was days late. Boat Run has a specific time slot to pick up oysters by the way, so if my order was messed up it would make sense to contact me before that time, right? But no one did. For a week the original email got bounced around the company Salt Block Hospitality. My original email probably was never even read which basically said they contacted me too late and we just picked up the oysters because we didn't know what else to do!

I tried to explain to them how problematic it was that their website was leaving cookies thus doubling orders and in turn I basically was treated in a very non-chalant manor and it was implied that I was trying to get something for free. It would have been nice if they had fixed my order before the time slot they set. They either already know their website double charges or they just don't care as it took 8 days for an email- which basically said you picked up the oysters so I hope you enjoyed them...Nothing about their website or the fact that if it happened to me they could be double charging lots of people. And it can easily be demonstrated. So, my money for my oysters will go to a company that treats customer with respect and responds to their message in an adequate time frame.

I ordered from Ocean Prime back in June and they forgot my 2 drinks to go. My husband had to drive back to get them and these drinks are almost 20.00$ each and you know what they did and my husband did not even complain...they gave him 4 drinks and did not even charge us for the 2 we originally ordered- 4 drinks for free. So, my point is, don't let business guilt you into ordering out or coming in to dine when its not safe right now. Don't feel bad if your order isn't correct and you need them to fix it.

Retail: My orders from my usual places have been great, Ettika, Red Dress, Lulus, Zara, Crate & Barrel, William Sonoma, Sur La Table, Crate & Barrel (has major shipping delays as well as Container Store), Bath and Body Works etc. But I made the mistake of buying clothes off an Instagram ad from a company called Ellebabe. BIG MISTAKE. I checked out the website, everything looked fine, it appeared to be shipping from Canada so I was like "ok, my order won't take forever". 1st red sign was that they were running an ad on Instagram, but had NO INSTAGRAM PAGE. Their Facebook page looked ok and there was a 10% off first order coupon so I was like "ok looks good" and I read several reviews. 2nd red sign the 10% was taken off the cheapest thing I bought. The dress in the add was $36.99 and that was the only reason I went to the website. It took over a month for the order to arrive and the dress was NOT IN THE BAG! This is all my fault because I know not to shop from those ads. When I contacted them they had bots replying to me, writing the same thing over and over and over. The order came from China, not Canada also. I cant prove they cheated me on the dress. They told me to file a claim instead of owning up to it and the claim is - guess what? Still pending because people are laid off. I filed a second claim with the USPS and of course they are like well we show the package was delivered...At this point I have wasted enough time and energy to equal the $36.99. I will probably never get my money, but lesson learned. Guys, I know you all know this, but just don't shop Instagram and Facebook ads. Its not worth it! That was my only time doing it and I will never do it again.

GLUTEN FREE MEALS COOKED BY MYSELF- RECIPES AVAILABLE BY REQUEST IF NOT POSTED.

Summer cooking taken to a new level: Well, this Summer I have pretty much cooked everything I loved to eat in restaurants and more. I have really challenged myself to work better at my plating and cooking skills more. It honestly is the one thing I love enough to really keep me motivated day after day of monotony. My husband thinks my plating has gotten really great and I have been doing a lot of different things cooking wise... Sometimes, I wish I had another Instagram page just for my cooking stuff, but I tried that with Air's food Passion (blog) and it all became too much to manage on my own.
