So, anyhow, I took a very steep walk upstairs, which led to this beautiful space. At this point in time, it's storming, and I am rattled and hungry, and I am like, great, a cooking class! So, the man who led the class was pretty great. He taught us a lot of things, but my main take away was that some of the Costa Rican cuisine is very similar to Jamaican cuisine ie; rice and peas for example, but they make theirs a little different.
It was so strange being amongst people who knew nothing about Afro Caribbean cuisine. It made me appreciate that more because I was hoping maybe when they all returned to their regular lives, they might want to make an empanada or rice and peas one night.
Anyhow, after our lesson, my husband was amongst some of the volunteers to help make some food. He looks so cute helping! At that point, I realized I wouldn't be able to taste anything because the element of cross contamination was way too high, and they were making empanadas first. Oh, I wanted to try the rice and peas so bad, but I couldn't risk it.
Lunch and dinner later that day
