Jekyll x Ciro’s Restaurant Collab | Velvet Floral Appliqué Cami Dress + Jimmy Choo

Velvet Floral Appliqué Cami Dress COMMENSE

Lipstick: MAC, Centr of Attention

Hi loves! So, this was our second time doing the the Jekyll X Ciro’s event at Jekyll at Hyde Park. If you are not familiar with Ciro’s you definitely missed out because they are not longer open, but they have done two-ish collabs with Jekyll since they closed and they are from the same restaurant group as well.

The first one we did was really great so Ibwas excited when I saw they were hosting another event. Unfortunately, this one was very different because while the first one had whole plates of food and a pre-fixe menu, this event was 65$ for three courses and three drinks. But those courses were so small they would hardly even amount to bar bites and Unfortunately, NONE of it was gluten-free and so my husband went ahead with the menu. But he does not drink so it just seemed like we lost money doing this restaurant takeover. I was happy to have his drinks, but I do not drink brown drinks except rum and two of the three were brown liquor.

I would say this event may have been a bit ill planned and to boot, Jekyll no longer has ANYTHING GLUTEN-FREE on their menu (not even the table side Ceasar which I have had before when it was first added, apparently because it now has soy). Now, I am going to address this below. But the night just started out pretty ify given these events.

So this was the first course. It sounds so good and it looks so good and the concept is so good, but its just ONE. This was tragic I would say. We were greeted with welcome drinks as well (more brown liquor), but given the amount of drinks that came with the pre-foxe it didn't match the low amount of food being offered and I am guessing that's because people would then order off the regular menu. To me this was not an ideal restaurant collaboration and yes, like I mentioned, the first time they did this their menu had actual food in larger quantities which gave a nod to Ciro’s and the drinks you paid additional for which also gave a nod to Ciro’s.

So, overall, this Cuban Sandwhich inspired fried gyoza was good, but it was one bite of food.

This margarita came with it which I drank and it was the best drink I had while I was there.

The second course was this beef tartare and I must say, service was beyond slow this night and we came in around 7pm and it was not busy. Every single thing took forever to come to our table and as you can see it is so little food.

This brown cocktail came with it and the tartare was good according to hubs it just wasn't really any food.

Hubs skipped course three which was a chocolate chip cookie and spiked milk. Now, the option to order from the Jekyll menu was always available, but given the slow service and the dissapointing collaboration he was over it totally which is understandable.

Secondary menu from RO

So, due to the fact that Jekyll seemed to eliminate all gluten-free options from their menu they brought me a menu from RO which is next door and they share a kitchen. I was fine with this option because I do like RO. Even their menu seems to have been condensed a lot for those who are avoiding gluten.

I ordered this crudo which I did like, but I think the overall vibe was probably gone because I couldn't have anything from Jekyll and the collab was kind of for drinkers to be honest. I wouldn't have booked this particular dinner had I seen the menu prior and I looked online for the Jekyll menu and a lot of the things on the menu online were not on the menu in the restaurant.

So, the grilled salmon from RO is actually my favorite. The issue with ordering on the Jekyll side is that they didn't get my specifications on how I wanted the salmon cooked so it came prepared with a sweet yuzu mirin all over which tasted good, but not my thing.

The great thing is that it was a decent amount of food.
