The Landing Rooftop Restaurant

So, while staying near the beach a lot of times in Floeida there are not a lot of options for mid and upscale dining. When planning this trip I took a lot of time to scout of places since we were essentially in between Orlando and Palm Bay.

It turns out Melbourne Beach is in the process of a gentrification along the A1A and downtown area according to my friends. I found a lot of great dining options, even some with clear gluten free menus. I chose the Landing because it looked on par with the kind of restaurants my husband and I go to like Elevage Epicurean or Bacán at The Wave for example.

Well, this restaurant is far from being ready to serve the public. I will start with the good...there is public parking across the street that was free. The view of the ocean from the 11th floor is great. The rooftop space is big and there is a lot of room to hold a lot of people and all of the furniture is nice. That's it.

We were meeting long time friends and their young kids. No one at pur table remotely liked pur food, not even the kids. If a kid doesn't like chicken wings and ice cream something is wrong! My food in particular was rhe least interesting and it was gluten free. The first meal I had was an unseasoned airline chicken smothered in BBQ sauce on top of grits that had ZERO flavor. All of it had no flavor and it was quite shocking. So I ordered a pork chop dish instead which also came on top of an unseasonably mash of what looked like grits, but it wasn't. The pork chop was also unseasonably, but atleast they got the temperature perfect. I think the o ly gluten free appetizers they had was hummus so I literally o ly had half a pork chop for dinner. Oh, I was not happy.

Well, the Chef came out to speak to me, but he really had nothing to say, no apologies nothing. He just awkwardly asked can he get anything else for us. The kids asked for the milkshake and 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream. It took 20 minutes for them to bring their desserts and they brought two MELTED scoops of chocolate ice cream. The kids were upset and didn't want it.

I was quite shocked they messed up such a simple request. On the whole none of the food was seasoned or really tasted good. Everything looked pale and kind of sad and was plated as such. Our waitress was very helpful. The drinks from the bar were meh also. The craft cocktails all really contained things I don't consume.

This place is listed as an upscale restaurant and it really isn't at this level of service its actually questionable if they have an actual Chef or just a stand in cook. Looking at Yelp there are tons of reviews pretty much with the same experience.

Tres disappointing!!!
