Tonights look is one that is very reminiscent of the style of the early 90's. The soft feminine style which is portrayed with soft floor sweeping skirts often in floral print or satin is one that I am oh so familiar with. My favorite was the cargo maxi skirt, I had one that my brother bought me when I was starting eighth grade and I loved it. Even to this day not only do I think about it, but I wish I still had it. This is one of the reasons why I have such a large vintage collection. While I hate getting rid of clothes, I know it is necessary, so, if I must, I try to get rid of things I have out grown or no longer want.
My common rule of thumb is to not buy anything fast fashion, but if I do, make sure it's something I can see myself wearing over and over again. You all have seen this skirt before. Today I paired it with a soft henly tank top because I guess my mood was to be comfortable, but a bit girly for date night.
What 90s styles do you all love? I was always enamored with my mom's fashion in the 90's, she was like the ultimate baddie. She had all these Hillary Banks styled suits from this store called Casual Corner and once I got older I was like damn, I wish she had passed some of those down to me, but she threw them away some time around when I was 15 or 16.
Clothing can hold memories and feelings as well...so, I get that sometimes you just want to start over and change your style. Sometimes what you like is no longer in style. Sometimes people who know nothing decide what's in style ie; see people saying Air Force Ones are old people shoes now, but want to wear New Balances (Eyuck). People who deemed skinny jeans and side parts no longer in style. People who proclaimed stripper wear was the end all be all and "ho is life".Well, I am going to tell you, wear what you want to wear, but make sure you aren't harming the Earth. While I am talking about vintage style...take a look at Ashley Banks' fashion in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I need more of that in my life right now.

So, tonight we are re-visiting Tantō because they have a new menu. Now, the last time I was here was opening night last September and they did not have a finalized menu for food. So, I have the menu below, but also some of my feedback.
So, this new menu is very reminiscent of that of Tori Bar located in the downtown/ North Hyde Park area. The menu has a lot of the same items. There are a lot of reasons why I would come here over Tori Bar and vs. vrs. One being that the same Chefs that lead the omakase program for Michelin starred Kōsen are the same preparing the food at Tantō. They have a very good grasp on Celiac a and food allergies. A lot of this new menu is gluten-free except about three things (including the Karaage).

The menu had some great things that I would recommend and they again and they are gluten-free. The smoked oysters were great.

Overall, the new menu is really good and it's about on par with that of Tori Bar or I guess even Tori Tori Pub. I liked everything we had and it wasn't over the top. My only issue was how dark it was in the restaurant and it was like 6pm and by 7pm they turned the lights down even further. I would love some outdoor seating, but the new menu is worth checking out.
They also offer an omakase offering for 150.00$ p.p. on the Tantō side and I will be planning to check that out as well.

Now, they have just the bump for a set price with no drink so that's not the same, but its still nice to have the option to enhance your experience with a little caviar without having to buy a whole tin of caviar.

The restaurant is too dark for my liking and I think that outdoor space could be utilized for additional seating during the warm months. I like to sit outside and just watch life, but I also like good lighting.

The chicken skewer with tare was also great, I loved it and we also had the pork belly.
Hubs loved the Karaage, I have never had it because it's never gluten-free so anytime you see it on my posts it is because he ordered it.
The craft coktails are atill great, but its scaled down more from when I was here on opening night. This is a highball made with vodka and served with a large slab of ice with the words Tantō.
