Stay Sarasota: "Thats So Sarasota" Food Tour Stop # 1: By Patrik Petersson at Kompose | Need to Get Away!

Wo, although I haven't fully wrapped my TPA area food tour I am segwaying into this food tour that I have spent some time working on. I tried to start it last year and the entire year just got away from me after April. This year is looking just as hectic with imaginable possibilities as well.

So, I am kicking things off with what would look like an "aircation", but it is not. I actually was forced out of my home for a second time in less than six months due to unforeseen circumstances. The first time was hurricane Milton in which I created the Milton Vlogs in October.

This time it was the a/c completely failing (and my house is new might I add) and as the temperature got above 92 to 93 degrees and we had to leave because we couldn't get the parts for several days. It simply was just too humid to be honest. So, yea, I probably look stressed in these photos and that is why because I am sleep deprived and just over everything.

Well, as a result of it becoming too hot to stay in our house, I ended up finding this amazing boutique hotel which I had never heard about and it was at the peak of Spring Break; that is when all of the hotels in Tampa and onward to the beaches actually are the most expensive.

This place absolutely stood out to me because while every other hotel wanted 7 to 800$ a night during Spring Break, they did not. I obviously wasn't going to the beach after sitting in a house with no a/c for 8 days and roasting so really I just needed a room with super cold air and I got that in spades.

So, I will say this hotel was so fetch and completely the type of place my husband would stay. To my surprise, they had a restaurant on site which never really happens at smaller places like this.  Like all of the amenities and things are striped down, straight forward, paying is simple and easy with any fees listed up front. So, as well left our home after roasting in it for almost 8 days I was exhausted and I felt genuinely like a shriveled up prune. I didn't feel like getting dressed up, being outside or even eating. All I wanted to do is sleep in some freaking a/c!

So, you are going to see here a more relaxed style in these first few posts. I often have my hair completely covered because of the heat and the length of my hair. I do not always take photos with my hair covered, but there are many.

Kompose Boutique Hotel
By Patrik Petersson

So, to my surprise Kompose Boutique Hotel has this amazing restaurant called By Patrik Petersson and it is on the level of what a lot of restaurants are at on the recommended Michelin Guide (the guide however  is not in Sarasota and most of Florida at this time)

They have a truly commendable price point of seven courses for 110$. They worked around my having Celiac Disease (this is why I love SRQ) and they composed a gluten-free menu of seven items they could make gluten-free from the existing menu.

There is a small bar located all within what is all a very small space, but I liked it. It was comfortable and surprisingly the restaurant was empty and we had the whole place to ourselves. Service was great and I got to watch the Chef make my food and talk to her about what things I liked.

The mixologist made me a craft cocktails based on what things I usually have at home and what flavor profiles I like. This drink was spot on for me and I loved it.

So, I just want to start by saying people throw around the phrase "hidden gem" way too much, but in this case it is very much hidden.

I had 5 star service and a 5 star meal while staying here. The menu changes seasonally so I can not wait to return to try what is new.

Keep in mind that it changes, this was actually curated for me, and I went in March and it is now June so the menu has changed.

What is even better is that you can have not only a boutique styled stay, but a gourmet dinner and it won't break your bank.
