You know what I love is a great date night, especially one that involves caviar. I have been sharing different styles of date nights with you then last year and "restaurant takeovers" are amongst my favorites.
Now tonight it is another rainy night. It's the rainy season here in Florida FYI and like as such, it is very hard to get any photos in an outfit outside because it is raining and it is 100% humidity. A lot of places have low lighting or they just don't want people taking photos inside as well. So this post is an amalgamation of whatever photos I could get of said outfit.
With that being said, this outfit looks three different colors in all the photos, but the daylight photos are the most true to color for this two piece linen set.
So, this set looked very cute in theory, but hubs wasn't having it with this opening in the front the way it was styled online so I ended up like this. You have to look at the way it's intended to be styled. He actually is pretty relaxed on what I wear, but the open front bothered him. I personally did not care, but I recognized it was problematic so I wore something underneath as well.
The set however, is cute and comfortable. It is another set from this company Commense that I have bought about 10 or 12 items from and while the claim to be committed to being environmentally safe, ai am not buying it. The skirt I purchased from there smelled so heavily of chemicals and i couldn't get the smell out even after washing it four times with baking soda, vinegar and laundry detergent. The fabric also irritated my skin so I am guessing the environmentally safe claim is lip service.
It was cute for the night though.

Rooster & the Till X Slim Charmer Kitchen Takeover
So, who doesn't like to start the night with caviar? Well, I do and one of my favorite things is when a restaurant has a shot and caviar bump for a flat price. I actually don't even do shots and in the past I have asked to just buy the caviar bump while at a different restaurant.
The shot that came with this was actually really really good. It was not a straight shot and it paired well with the caviar.
(Seminole Heights and for one night only). Everything below is gluten-free.
So, I do have a running series called "Airie in the City" where I go to new restaurants either on opening night or the first week or weeks of them opening depending on how hard it is to get into the restaurant. I featured Slim Charmer of St.Petersburg either June or May. I was surprised they were already doing a kitchen takeover, but the Chef is the same Chef from Wild Child which has been open for years and his food is well known. I love Wild Child and I enjoyed Slim Charmer a lot so I was excited to go to this takeover on my side of town- Tampa at the well known and highly praised Rooster and the Till in Seminole Heights.

Razor clams a la plancha
We started out with the razor clams which at Slim Charner were prepared differently. It was cool to get to try these a different way...at Slim Charmer they were served cold like a ceviche with a chopped garnish and these were served warm with an herb garnish.
SICILIAN SASHIMI
Tuna| Salmon| Snapper Smoked Trout Roe | Capers Meyer lemon.
The sashimi is also on the menu at Slim Charmer, but once again it was different here. Now, I could be remembering incorrectly, but when I had it there was no white fish, chives, or salmon roe and garlic. I loved the new additions to this dish. It gave it more depth of flavor and the while the salmon roe didn't add much for me the garlic and Chives did. I think if the roe was bigger it would have though.
GRILLED PORK CHOP
Smoked Onion Jus |Crispy Potato Pave | Raclette Espuma
So, this may be a new item and I love pork chops. The reduced onion jus made this so rich in flavor. The pork chop was so tender and the plating was great. This meal had all the execution and consistency of what you will get at Rooster and the Till.
I did not get to try much on the Rooster and the Till.menu because I was told it was not gluten-free. I was however, at the last minute, told this dessert was gluten-free. My my my, I am not a dessert girl, but there is a part of me that used to love sweets and this had everything I missed.
BLACK SESAME GELATO
Pineapple Coconut Jam| Milk Crumb| Thai Tea Caramel
I hate to reduce the dish to this, but the black sesame and milk crumble with the gelato screamed Cookies and Cream to me. It was absolutely fabulous! I used to love Cookies and Cream until I found out I had Celiacs so for me, this was a flavor profile I have not had in over a decade.
The dessert however, was a lot more nuanced, I as a Celiac actually stopped eating it because it tasted too good to be true. Many many times when I am told things are gluten-free sometimes they are not, and usually if it tastes like what you have been missing (what you grew up tasting) you have to stop and ask a second time.
I will day, the milk crumble, they had the texture and flavor of cookies and that is low key what scared me. Paired with the gelato it tasted like cookies and cream to me.
My husband however, ate the whole dish and he got all the flavor complexities and I must say this dish was my absolute favorite of the night (other than the caviar). I did however really love everything. Until next time!
XOXO
